Forbes is an American business magazine. Published bi-weekly, it features original articles on finance, industry, investing, and marketing topics. Forbes also reports on related subjects such as technology, communications, science, politics, and law. Every year FORBES presents a list of top billionaires and this year also they presented a list of 2,153 billionaires with a total net wealth of $8.7 trillion.  This is a list of the 10 richest people in the world based on real-time assessment of wealth and assets by Forbes.

10. Larry Page

Net Worth: $50.8 Billion

Larry Page is an American computer scientist and Internet entrepreneur who co-founded Google with Sergey Brin. He is the co-founder of Google, which was founded back in a garage in 1998. The page is the chief executive officer of Alphabet Inc. (Google’s parent company). After stepping aside as Google CEO in August 2001, in favor of Eric Schmidt, he re-assumed the role in April 2011. As of December 2018, Page was the 10th-richest person in the world, with a net worth of $58.5 billion. The page is the inventor of PageRank, a well-known search ranking algorithm for Google. Page received the Marconi Prize in 2004 with Brin.

9. Michael Bloomberg

Michael Bloomberg is an American businessman, politician, author, and philanthropist. Bloomberg is now 74 years old and one of the richest people in the world. Bloomberg is one of the founders, CEO, and owner of Bloomberg L.P., global financial services, software, and mass media company that bears his name, and is notable for its Bloomberg Terminal, a computer software system providing financial data widely used in the global financial services industry. Bloomberg served as the 108th Mayor of New York City, holding office for three consecutive terms, beginning his first in 2001. Michael Page was the 12th-richest person in the world, with a net worth of $51 billion.

He has recently dropped off after losing a lot of his net worth due to the Cambridge data scandal and various other issues causing the Facebook stock prices to fall.

Larry Ellison is an American businessman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist who is a co-founder and the executive chairman and chief technology officer (CTO) of Oracle Corporation. He was also the company’s CEO until September 2014. Over the years, Oracle has become an incredibly successful tech company, now being 39 years old and employing over 136,000 people. He is a licensed pilot who has owned several aircraft. In 2009, Larry purchased the Indian Wells Tennis Garden tennis facility in California’s Coachella Valley and the Indian Wells Masters tournament, both of which he still owns. Ellison had given $4 million overall to the PAC.

As of late September 2018, Ortega had a net worth of $70 billion, making him the second-wealthiest person in Europe after Bernard Arnault, and the sixth-wealthiest in the world. He is the head of the Ortega family. Ortega is also the wealthiest retailer in the world. Ortega recently moved back up to the 5th richest man in the world, after other players on the list have dropped down slightly. However, Ortega’s also lost over $11 billion from his net worth in recent months.

Carlos Slim Helu is a Mexican business magnate, engineer, investor, and philanthropist. From 2010 to 2013, Slim was ranked as the richest person in the world by the Forbes business magazine. He derived his fortune from his extensive holdings in a considerable number of Mexican companies through his conglomerate, Grupo Carso. He is the richest man in Mexico and Latin America. His conglomerate includes education, health care, industrial manufacturing, transportation, real estate, media, energy, hospitality, entertainment, high-technology, retail, sports, and financial services. In recent months, Carlos Slim has lost almost $6 billion from his net worth and dropped from 7th to 5th.

Net Worth: $76 Billion

Bernard Arnault is a French business magnate, investor, and art collector. Arnault is the Chairman and Chief Executive of LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE, commonly referred to as LVMH, the world’s largest luxury-goods company. He is the richest person in Europe.Ultimately, the company was formed from merging the two businesses together. Louis Vitton is the very successful luxury fashion brand, and Moet Hennessey is the merged champagne and cognac manufacturers. Bernard has been making serious movements up to this list in the past year but he is still at the same position.

Buffett has been the chairman and largest shareholder of Berkshire Hathaway since 1970, and he has been referred to as the “Wizard”, “Oracle”, or “Sage” of Omaha by global media outlets.

Bezos first became a millionaire in 1997 after raising $54 million through Amazon’s initial public offering.
