The rivers are a stream flowing on the Earth. The source of the river is usually an ice glacier, lake, natural source, waterfall or rainwater. The completion of any river is in a big ocean, lake or desert.

Most human civilizations flourished on the banks of rivers. Therefore, it can be said that rivers are the most important lifelines of human life. Rivers provide drinking water, cheap transportation, electricity and livelihood to a large number of people across the country.

  • The Nile River is the longest river flowing on the earth. This river flows into Africa. Its total length is 6,853 kilometers (4,258 mi). The Nile River flows through eleven African countries Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, South Sudan, Sudan, and Egypt.
  • The Amazon River is the second-longest river in the world. It travels about 6400 kilometers in length (4000 mi). The Amazon River is the largest river on the earth by the volume of water.
  • In many places, the width of the Amazon River is up to 11 kilometers. The width of the river reaches an astonishing 190 kilometers (120 mi) on rainy days.
  • The Yangtze River in China is the third-longest river in the world running 6,300 kilometers (3915 mi). This river is the longest river in the world flowing entirely within a country.
  • There are 18 countries in which there is not a single river.
  • Bangladesh is known as the “Land of Rivers” with over 700 rivers.
  • The Missouri River is the longest river in North America.
  • Rising from the Rocky Mountains of western Montana, Missouri flows 3,767 kilometers (2,341 mi) east and south before entering the Mississippi River north of St. Louis. The Missouri River is the 15th longest river in the world.
  • The longest river in Europe is the Volga. It flows about 3,685 kilometers (2,290 mi) into Russia and falls into the Caspian Sea. It is the largest river in Europe by water.
  • The Congo River is the deepest river in the world with a depth of more than 220 m (720 ft). It is the second-longest river in Africa after the Nile River and the second largest river in the world by volume of water.
