He was hospitalized for more than two months.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1985<\/strong> &#8211; Thomas Sutherland, an American educator, was kidnapped in Lebanon. He was not released until November 1991.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1986<\/strong> &#8211; The Rogers Commission released a report on the\u00a0<i>Challenger<\/i>\u00a0disaster. The report explained that the spacecraft blew up as a result of a failure in a solid rocket booster joint.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1999<\/strong> &#8211; NATO and Yugoslavia signed a peace agreement over Kosovo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2000<\/strong> &#8211; Canada and the United States signed a border security agreement. The agreement called for the establishment of a border-enforcement team.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2000<\/strong> &#8211; The U.S. House of Representatives voted to repeal gift and estate taxes. The bill called for the taxes to be phased out over 10 years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2001<\/strong> &#8211; Patrick Roy (Colorado Avalanche) became the first National Hockey League (NHL) player to win three Conn Smythe Trophies. The award is given to the playoff&#8217;s Most Valuable Player.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2011<\/strong> &#8211; The world&#8217;s first artificial organ transplant was performed.
