About 70 million people watched Muhammad Ali defeat Ernie Shavers on NBC-TV.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1982<\/strong> &#8211; In Chicago,\u00a0IL, seven people died after taking capsules of Extra-Strength Tylenol that had been laced with cyanide. 264,000 bottles were recalled.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1983<\/strong> &#8211; The War Powers Act was used for the first time by the\u00a0U.S.\u00a0Congress when they authorized President Reagan to keep\u00a0U.S.\u00a0Marines in Lebanon for 18 more months.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1983<\/strong> &#8211; &#8220;A Chorus Line&#8221; with performance number 3,389 became the longest-running show on Broadway.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1984<\/strong> &#8211; Irish officials announced that they had intercepted the\u00a0<i>Marita Anne<\/i>\u00a0carrying seven tons of\u00a0U.S.-purchased weapons.
