1955<\/strong> – The World Series was televised in color for the first time. The game was between the New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers.<\/p>\n

1961<\/strong> – “Dr. Kildare” premiered on NBC-TV.<\/p>\n

1967<\/strong> – The first mayor of Washington,\u00a0DC, Walter Washington, took office.<\/p>\n

1995<\/strong> – Yasser Arafat of the PLO and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin signed an accord that transferred control of the West Bank.<\/p>\n

1997<\/strong> – The 103rd convention of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) was held in New York City,\u00a0NY. The official debut of the DVD format was featured.<\/p>\n

2000<\/strong> – The\u00a0U.S.\u00a0Federal Drug Administration approved the use of RU-486 in the\u00a0United States. The pill is used to induce an abortion.<\/p>\n
