The original premiere was delayed in 1939 due to World War II.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1946<\/strong> &#8211; WNBT-TV in New York became the first station to promote a motion picture. Scenes from &#8220;The Jolson Story&#8221; were shown.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1953<\/strong> &#8211; The TV show &#8220;Letter to Loretta&#8221; premiered. The name was changed to &#8220;The Loretta Young Show&#8221; on February 14, 1954.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1953<\/strong> &#8211; Jimmy Stewart debuted on the radio western &#8220;The Six Shooter&#8221; on NBC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1955<\/strong> &#8211; &#8220;You&#8217;ll Never Be Rich&#8221; premiered on CBS-TV. The name was changed less than two months later to &#8220;The Phil Silvers Show.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>1962<\/strong> &#8211; James Meredith, a black student, was blocked from enrolling at the University of Mississippi by Governor Ross R. Barnett. Meredith was later admitted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1963<\/strong> &#8211;&nbsp;U.S. President John F. Kennedy&nbsp;proposed a joint U.S.-Soviet expedition to the moon in a speech to the U.N. General Assembly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1967<\/strong> &#8211; The ocean liner Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) was launched. The three companies were AT&amp;T, Lucent Technologies, and NCR Corp.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1995<\/strong> &#8211; The&nbsp;U.S.&nbsp;House of Representatives voted to drop the national speed limit. This allowed the states to decide their own speed limits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2000<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 The United Kingdom&#8217;s MI6 Secret Intelligence Service building is&nbsp;attacked&nbsp;by individuals using a Russian-built RPG-22 anti-tank missile.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2001<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 In an address to a joint session of Congress and the American people, U.S. President George W.
